Priorate Winehouses
Description:
Priorate is a unique wine region of Catalonia. Wine here began to produce in the XII century Cartesian monks from the monastery of Scala Dei. But at the end of the XIX century, all vineyards were destroyed by phylloxera and for many years the region fell into decline. However, today, thanks to the hard work, faith and resourcefulness of winemakers, Priorate is experiencing a second birth and is gaining increasing popularity among wine gourmets from around the world.
In 2000, Priory received the DOQ certificate - the highest degree of product quality. So far there are only two in Spain in Priorate and Rioja.
The dry climate causes the roots of the vine to grow deep into the soil for water and minerals, the soil rich in slate and quartzite give the grapes a special taste and aroma, the nearby Montsant mountain range (Holy Mountain), which creates a special microclimate, mountain reliefs and mountains themselves 300-600 meters above sea level, where vineyards grow on the slopes and terraces - all this affects the quality and quantity of grapes, the harvest is not large, but the wines are very dense, rich with rich aromas. After all, it is not for nothing that L’Ermita wine received 100 points out of 100 from wine critic Robert Parker.
I invite you to this exclusive, elite region for a walk through the vineyards, with a stop in small medieval villages, with wine tasting, olive oil and delicacies. I promise to meet the locals, from which you will enjoy!!
