Gourmet delight. Tasting lamprey.
Description:
We will go to a small family farm near Riga, where the famous Latvian delicacy-fried lamprey has been prepared for 20 years. Toasted lampreys in golden jelly are so tasty that trying to describe their taste is empty business.
The lamprey is served without garnish, as even the best garnish will interrupt its delicate taste. A slice of lemon, a little green, a glass of white wine or light beer--and nothing else... Someone, looking at lamprey with fear, will not dare to try it, but the better for you and me - more will get:
In Europe, lamprey has long been valued as a delicacy. For example, in France, royal decrees forbade merchants to buy lamprey anywhere except the capital, and the town of Gloucester traditionally presented lamprey paste to the English king at Christmas.
They prepare lamprey here in accordance with long traditions, no automation, everything by hand, with a soul. You will be offered lamprey in jelly, lamprey grilled and lamprey sushi. The owner will share the secrets of catching and preparing lamprey. Fresh fish owners buy here, from local fishermen. Guests are nice, friendly hosts and tourists from Europe and high-ranking Latvian politicians. And everyone takes away beautiful memories.
It is difficult to imagine a festive table of a resident of another city of Latvia without lamprey. I think that after our tour this delicious delicacy will become your favorite.
Weather permitting, you can ride the Gauja River in summer and autumn by motorboat.
A tour is also possible for large groups.
