La Barric's Cider Museum

Av. 3 Sur 904, San Pedro Cholula

About the company:

The La Barric Cider Museum in Cholula tells the story of a small, privately owned plant for the production of effervescent alcoholic beverages. Visiting the exhibition is free.

Cholula was considered the center of cider production in Mexico. Traditions brought by millers and gardeners from southern France and Spanish Catalonia took root in the land of Latin America. In Cholula, a small winery was founded by the Barrick family, large landowners. The abundance of apples and the supply of high-quality oak barrels allowed to establish the process of yeastless fermentation necessary for the appearance of apple cider.

The museum features photographs of four generations of the Barrick family, who have been in the hereditary business for 75 years, fruit picking baskets, fermentation machines and many other interesting exhibits. Visiting the museum is free, as the owners earn on the sale of cider, which can be purchased in the basement store. The museum also has a bar where you can try a dozen cocktails, which include this effervescent apple drink.
