Kaliningrad: What does New Year’s tourism look like in the face of restrictive measures?
On December 23, the government of the Kaliningrad region published a decree on the introduction of additional restrictive measures on the New Year holidays.
The document comes into force on December 24.
From December 25 to January 10, it is prohibited to hold New Year celebrations in educational organizations, cultural institutions, sports, entertainment centers, art spaces, museums, galleries, shopping centers, swimming pools, baths (saunas), photo studios, except for kindergartens.
Until January 31, 2021, the restriction on banquets, weddings, corporate parties was extended.
Restricted catering: from December 25 banned the activities of catering in shopping centers and do not have a separate entrance. Until January 15, there is a restriction on the activities of food courts in the shopping center and street food.
It is prohibited to serve visitors to catering enterprises from 00:00 on December 31, 2020 to 00:00 on January 3, 2021.
On December 25 - 30, the catering service operates from 6 to 19 hours, from January 3 to 10 - from 6 to 21 hours. Possible takeaway service, home delivery, hotel rooms.
New Year restrictions do not apply to catering enterprises at hotels and other accommodation facilities for serving their guests. Their restaurants will be able to work on schedule: breakfast - from 07:00 to 10:00, lunch - from 12:00 to 15:00, dinner - from 17:00 to 20:00.
It will be impossible to meet the New Year itself under the chimes in restaurants, including at hotels in the region - on December 31, you can dine in hotels up to 20 hours.
December 25 - January 10, it is forbidden to conduct excursions for a group of more than 10 people in museums, exhibitions, tourist walks, bus excursion routes. Excursions in mini groups are allowed.
Andrey Yermak, Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Kaliningrad region, generally agrees that after the decision to ban the work of catering, some tourists will not go to the city for holidays.
“Of course, some tourists will refuse. Now we have a hotel rejection rate of 20% just because of the lack of a New Year’s banquet.
Meanwhile, other experts of the tourism industry are positive, as restrictive measures do not prohibit tours in mini-groups.
