The government intends to extend the cashback program for tours in Russia until the end of 2020
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko at a meeting of President Vladimir Putin with members of the government said that the cashback program for tours in Russia should be extended at least until the end of the year, capturing the New Year holidays.
He recalled that the government allocated 15 billion rubles for the implementation of the program. During the week of its action, tourists purchased tours for almost 1.5 billion rubles, and tour operators prepared for more than a million offers.
“This is a very good start and we are seeing a positive impact from these measures. We see that for each ruble of federal budget funds that we spent to stimulate domestic tourism, an additional amount of about seven rubles was raised, according to our calculations. We see that the program receives the support of business, tourism, first of all. There is an understanding that it needs to be refined taking into account the proposals of citizens themselves, since we hear feedback about the service and what the tourism industry itself says.
He said the program should be extended.
“The programme should definitely be extended at least until the end of the year and the New Year holidays should be seized. And to adjust the conditions, making it more convenient and accessible to people ..., added Chernyshenko.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that it is necessary to change the rules of the program so that the funds allocated for its implementation can be used this year and next, directing them to support domestic tourist trips of Russians. Vladimir Putin agreed with this proposal.
Chernyshenko added that the tourist flow is recovering, and the summer season can be considered successful.
Sale of tours in Russia with cashback took place on August 21-28. In its framework, tourists after buying trips were returned cashback in the amount of up to 20% of their cost. In total, about 60,000 people used the program.
