Russia is among the leaders in spending on summer travel among the G20 countries
Russia was among the leaders in travel spending this summer among the countries of the “big twenty”, and ahead of other countries in the number of domestic air travel.
According to Mastercard, “Despite the difficulties caused by the spread of COVID-19, consumer spending on travel is increasing.” So, Russia, Italy and France lead among the countries of the “big twenty” in the resumption of spending on travel and entertainment. This includes air travel, accommodation and meals outside the home.”
In Europe, the resumption of tourism is mainly due to interregional travel.

In the U.S., demand for rental scooters and bicycles exceeded 2019 levels in July.
Tourists began to book mini-hotels for travel more often, the demand for them increased by 50%.
According to Mastercard senior adviser and ex-CEO of Saks department store chain Steve Sadove, tourists choose places to relax near home. “...people like to travel, but now we see them adapting their travel habits to the situation. Expenses for gasoline, bicycle rental and restaurants are gradually being resumed, but mainly due to domestic tourism and expenses near the house.
A study of transactions on individual cards and business cards shows that travel expenses (air travel and car rental) are growing faster than spending on business tours.
