Soave - elegant local white wine

Most of the land of Soave is devoted to vineyards, where in the historic area of Soave Classico, as well as in the additional area of Soave, produce elegant, fragrant and crispy white wine, which is one of the most valuable in Northern Italy.

Many people believe that the name of this area comes from the name of the wine. In fact, the name comes from the tribes of Swedes "Svevi", who settled in this area in the fifth century, from which the name of the town "Suaves", then "Suevi", "Soavi" and finally Soave.

But, according to tradition, it is believed that it was the great poet Dante Alighieri, driving through the city, who called it “soave”, after he tasted the white local wine. After all, the word “soave” means “gentle, pleasant” and, as it is not surprising, the meaning of the word itself perfectly characterizes both the town itself and the style of wine Soave.

White dry wine Soave Classico and sweet wine Rechoto di Soave are produced from autochthonous varieties of white grapes Garganeg and Trebbiano di Soave. These two vines have lived on these hills for centuries and are the undisputed mistresses of the house.

Wine Soave reveals before us all shades of yellow, from yellow-straw with a greenish tint to a bright golden color. The wine has a delicate aroma of white flowers, citrus and yellow fruits, with a slight taste of almonds and flower honey.

The soil of volcanic origin with numerous basaltic deposits, red-copper, gray and black colors, is the undeniable heroine and the main connecting thread of all wines of this zone. Due to this special composition of the soil, Soave wine always has a pleasant mineral taste.
