Association of Tour Operators of Russia calls approximate dates of opening of the Russian Federation for foreign travelers

Executive Director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) Maya Lomidze believes that in March-April 2021, the gradual opening of Russia’s borders is expected.

" We expect that the gradual opening of Russia to foreign travelers will begin in March-April 2021. In this case, the recovery of the industry from the consequences of the pandemic can significantly accelerate, Lomidze said in an interview with RT.

According to her, the recovery of the tourism industry will depend on the dynamics of the incidence of COVID-19.

According to Lomidze, in a positive scenario, a return to pre-crisis indicators will occur in the second half of 2021.

At the same time, closed borders remain a negative factor for the market, which hinder the full development of the segment. Therefore, in such an unstable situation, the industry would not hurt the support of the state in the form of reducing rental costs and reducing the tax burden, the ATOR Executive Director added.
