Early booking 2021: forecasts and prospects
According to Wordstat, the number of requests to Yandex containing the phrase “early booking” decreased by 79%, 4.6 times.
In December 2019, the query was typed in the search box 84 234 times, and in the last month of the past – 18 313. Looking at the dynamics of requests, it is clear that the decline became visible in January 2020 and manifested itself as much as possible by April-May. It was then that it became obvious that the summer season in the previous format could not take place.
In June, domestic resorts opened, and interest in early booking revived, but about three times lagged behind last year’s figures. In August 2020, when far-sighted tourists usually planned a winter holiday, the traditional surge did not occur: the complete uncertainty about the opening of borders and fears of a second wave of coronavirus prevented. But despite this, the decline stopped in the autumn.
Judging by the dynamics of queries, since November, the number of search queries began to grow again. Of course, they are still many times less than in the “predictable” 2019. But the very fact of breaking the negative trend inspires optimism.
In autumn, tour operators and hoteliers began to actively promote their offers for the season and, as Yandex shows, they did not go unnoticed. The demand picture may clear up closer to March, when most tourists traditionally plan a summer holiday.
The favorite of outbound tourism is Turkey, a real boom in demand is expected on domestic routes.
