Rosturizm before the end of the year can repeat the sale of tours in the country

Sale of tours in Russia with cashback started on the night of August 21 and ended on Friday evening. Its goal is to support domestic tourism after the coronavirus pandemic, the government allocated 15 billion rubles for the program.

According to Rosturizm, as of August 28, tours and accommodation in hotels with cashback, Russians purchased 1.1 billion rubles. Leading in terms of sales traditionally popular with tourists Krasnodar region, Crimea and Stavropol.

According to the commercial director of the tour operator Intourist Sergey Tolchin, sales of tours in Russia for the week of the action increased by 20-25%, among the most popular destinations are Sochi, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Crimea.

At the start of sales of tours with cashback, the head of Rostourism Zarina Doguzova predicted that up to 3 million Russians would use the promotion. On Thursday, the department reported that tours and accommodation in hotels were purchased by about 50,000 tourists.

According to tour operators, the lack of excitement around the sale is associated with difficulties, for example, difficulties with the registration of a bank card "Mir" and short time for the promotion.

“There are a number of factors that affect performance. Tour operators are not difficult to connect to the program - this is their job. But tourists, it turns out, quite difficult to understand everything. They do not fully understand how quickly, where and under what conditions it is possible to issue a map of the World. They do not understand what to do with it later (with the map) <...> This also does not lead to the popularization of the program, Tolchin said.

The press service of Rosturizm reported that the Agency intends to restart the sale of tours on cashback or hold a similar action until the end of 2020. “The programme is working and has already shown its effectiveness in simulating low-season demand. We do not rule out a repeat of the programme this year.”

On August 28, RST, ATOR, the Russian Hotel Association appealed to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin with a letter, where they asked to extend the subsidy program with the possibility of buying tours, including for 2021.
