How much did Russians spend on vacation in the summer of 2020?
Spending Russians on vacation last summer decreased to the level of 2015.
This information was presented by Kirill Rodin, director of work with public authorities of the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTSIOM).
“Recreational patterns have changed and spending has also decreased. The Russians were in a mode of forced economy. And the budget for summer trips reached the level of 2015 - 32.5 thousand per person, he said.
In 2019, the budget was almost 40 thousand, in 2018 – 37.2 thousand.
Compared to the previous year, the real places of rest of Russians have hardly changed. As in 2019, 27% spent summer holidays in dachas, 6% in the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory, 4% went to the Crimea. The changes affected the segment of foreign tourism – 0.5% in 2020 instead of 8% in 2019.
We hear talk that in the Krasnodar region the apple has nowhere to fall and that people went to rest in the regions of Russia. We expected the survey to see a renaissance of domestic tourism, but this is not the case. Everything is about the same as in previous years”.
There was a redistribution of the audience, which is used to vacationing abroad, and it is not large.
“The effect of congestion in the resorts of the south of Russia seems to be due to the fact that people went to rest in a shorter time than usual. It seems that there has been an explosive growth. If we believe the answers that the Russians gave, then in reality there was none.
Almost half of Russians have changed their vacation plans due to the coronavirus pandemic, travel restrictions and financial problems.
The study was conducted on the basis of the survey "VTSIOM-Sputnik". This is a daily telephone survey of Russians over the age of 18, which covers 1,600 respondents living in at least 80 regions. The margin of error is 2.5 percent.
