South Korea opens to Russians: what do tourists think?
The first flight from Moscow to Seoul after the lifting of restrictions on air traffic will take place on October 1.
The flights will be operated by Aeroflot once a week, on Thursdays (Flight SU 0250 Moscow – Seoul). Return flight SU0251 Seoul – Moscow will be operated on Saturdays. As international air traffic is restored, the frequency of flights may change.
Tickets for the first flights are sold out, tariffs - from 29 thousand rubles per person in one direction.
E. Lopukhina, Marketing Director of the Moscow office of the National Tourism Organization of Korea, Korea It strengthens its position in the Russian market every year.
In 2019, more than 340 thousand Russians visited the country. The number of Korean tourists visiting Russia is growing and in 2019 there were 450,000 people.
Experts are sure that the first flights to Korea will fly Russians who do not travel for tourist purposes. Korea will not be able to attract mass tourists as long as strict entry conditions exist.
To enter Korea, Russians need a visa, because On April 13, the agreement with Russia on the mutual abolition of visa requirements was suspended.
48 hours before departure, citizens of the Russian Federation draw up a document on the absence of symptoms of coronavirus, the certificate is translated into English or Korean - e must be presented at check-in for the flight. A coronavirus test before departure is not required.
Upon arrival in South Korea, you will have to take the test directly at the airport and, regardless of its results, go into quarantine for 14 days at your own expense - up to 150 thousand won ($ 137) per day.
Observers positively assess the fact of the restoration of air traffic. “We launched this direction in early spring of this year. We believe that, as in other Asian destinations, we are waiting for delayed demand. At the first stage, sales will be minimal, but the opening of South Korea will undoubtedly raise the interest of travelers to this direction, the press service of the tour operator Intourist is sure.
Tour operators note that even the meager volumes of transportation make it possible to plan, for example, programs for the New Year.
Representatives of tourist retail were not enthusiastic about the return of South Korea to the Russian tourist market. According to them, Korea was not in demand among mass tourists even when it was visa-free.
The current rules of entry, especially quarantine at their own expense, do not stimulate tourists even in conditions of a meager choice of foreign routes.
