Dilijan is a cozy resort town in the Tavush region of Armenia, hidden in the upper basin of the Agstev River. This green corner is called the “Pearl of Armenia” for its mild climate, ancient architecture and forest landscapes. The history of the city is intertwined with crafts, merchant life and monastery traditions, and the atmosphere here disposes to leisurely walks and inspires lovers of nature and culture.
Interesting man-made sights are concentrated in and around the city: the picturesque Artisan Street with workshops and souvenir shops, ancient temples and monasteries - primarily the Hagartsin Monastery and the Goshavank Monastery Complex, which store ancient inscriptions and architectural details. In the center of Dilijan there are preserved houses in the traditional style, museums and cozy cafes where you can feel the local culture. These places are great to understand what to see in the city and to touch its history.
Natural attractions here are no less impressive: Dilijan National Park with dense spruce and beech forests, hills and hiking trails, as well as proximity to one of the natural wonders of Armenia - Lake Sevan, one of the largest high-altitude freshwater lakes in the world. The surroundings offer beautiful views of the high-mountain meadows, the valleys of the Agstev River and observation platforms, where the breath of mountains and forests is felt - ideal places for photos and secluded walks in nature.
On our site you can see all these attractions on an interactive map, read brief descriptions and reviews, and build a convenient route for walking around the city and surroundings. The map will help you plan what to see first, where to stay for lunch and how to connect museums, churches and natural points into one logical route for the day or weekend.
You are free to explore Dilijan on your own along the marked routes, enjoying the atmosphere and leisurely walks, or book excursions with local guides to learn more about the history of temples, legends and culinary traditions. Local guides will tell stories, show hidden angles and help to create an individual program - from hiking tracks in the national park to gastronomic stops in family restaurants of ecological cuisine.
Come to Dilijan to discover the combination of nature and culture, feel the rhythm of the Armenian provincial city and collect your own list of places to go. Let each walk be a small discovery: come back here again, explore new routes and share your impressions – Dilijan is waiting for its guests.
