Altai 2020: demand for travel increased by 30-40% compared to 2019
Demand for trips to the Altai increased by 30-40% compared to last year, but some tourists complain about the quality of service. This was told by the press Secretary of the Russian Union of travel industry (PCT) Irina Tyurina.
The late opening of the season in the Altai Territory from June 27, and in the Altai Republic from July 3, and the almost complete absence of foreign destinations led to an increase in the flow of tourists by 30-40% compared to last year. This was mainly due to Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as Siberians who come for the weekend.
Tyurina noted that in August, the load of hotels in the Altai increased by 185% compared to the same period in 2019, the forecast for September is 182%. Demand for airfare in Gorno-Altaisk and barnaul in June-July increased by 4.3 times. The average check for flights to Altai fell by 43% to 11,304 rubles. Flights are fully loaded.
“Hotels 3-5* are mainly booked until mid-September, people go for 7-10 days. Seats on certified bases, which offer not only accommodation, but also service, are in short supply until September-October.
The difference of this season from the previous one is that travelers who are used to comfort and high level of service go to Altai, which Altai lacks.
" . On active routes, people want places with a toilet and hot water, some are not ready to walk 15-30 km a day. Tour operators are trying to reorient such tourists at the stage of applications - to offer them a holiday in Belokurikha or expensive tourist complexes.
The expert noted that many beautiful and desirable places in the Altai are far away, and travelers are not ready for a long road: People tend to see pictures from Instagram – Belukha, Uchar waterfall, Stone mushrooms, Altai Mars. But you have to go for a long time or even go. Private helicopters Robinson and Copter, designed for 3-5 people, are pre-booked. "
I. Tyurina believes that in 2020 the season in Altai can last until September-October, if the weather does not hurt, although usually the races with tour operators end with the beginning of autumn.
