Association of Tour Operators of Russia clarifies the opinion on prices for summer tours in the country

Recently, in federal and regional business and political publications, on the feeds of news agencies there are reports about the alleged “ATOR forecasts” about the growth of prices for tours (vouchers) in Russia in the summer of 2020.

The Association of Tour Operators officially states that ATOR, its executive directorate or analytical services did not make such forecasts.

The Association believes that now there are no grounds for such assessments of the situation with prices for tours in Russia this summer.

Experts - tour operators on domestic tourism note that due to the pandemic, the solvency of Russians has fallen, and hotels do not make sense to raise prices: accommodation facilities need to increase the load at least up to 50%, create a depth of sales. This is only possible at affordable prices.

For some dates in August, some popular accommodation facilities can point to increase prices by 5-10%, but there is no general increase in all resorts.

As of June, not all hotels in the regions of mass tourist demand are open. If they decide to open at the height of the season, they will be forced to lower prices to attract customers.

At a press conference on June 17, ATOR Executive Director Maya Lomidze noted: “Now the real demand for rest does not exceed supply.” Prices for July and August are comparable to last year.”

The official position of ATOR - there are no prerequisites for the rise in the cost of recreation in Russia. Any other position is a distortion of facts.

On the official website of ATOR next week will be published weekly monitoring of prices for tours in Russia.
