Delayed demand for rest: Russians went on a trip
Russian travelers have resumed spending on their holidays in the first half of June spent on travel three times more than in the first half of May.
In the first half of June, the volume of orders in travel agencies amounted to 320 million rubles (21,000 bookings), which is almost three times more than in the first half of May and almost 3.5 times more than in April.
Growth was noted in all related segments: booking of railway, air tickets, hotels”.
Now spending has not reached the “pre-coronavirus” level: the level of spending is lower by 43% than before the pandemic – taking into account the fact that in February-March in our country there is an actual failure of orders.
“Similar trends are observed in the transport segment. Rail ticket costs in the first half of June are twice as high as in May and almost 2.5 times higher than in April. Compared to February, turnover fell by 45%.
In the area of purchase of tickets, expenses increased by 157% compared to May and 211% since April. But everything is relative – they are 50% lower than those costs were in February.
At the same time, the average check has decreased by 3% compared to what it was before the pandemic.
Tourists spent 250 million rubles on booking hotels. In this segment, the gap from February values is still higher – 66%. But in terms of the size of the average check, spending is ahead of all three months, including February, by 20%.”
The final response to the growing demand for domestic tourism will be visible in July-August 2020.
