Thailand returns visa-free regime for Russians

Russian tourists wishing to travel to Thailand No more than a calendar month, you can not apply for a visa.

This situation has existed in recent years and was disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic. But there is an innovation: Russians are required to obtain a Certificate of Entry (CE) on the website of the Embassy of Thailand in the Russian Federation.

Tourists planning to stay in Thailand for more than a month must apply for a TR visa valid for up to 60 days. This period is extended for another 30 days.

Under the new TR visa rules, Thailand has abolished the requirement for applicants to have 500,000 baht in their account, limiting them to 20,000 baht - about $700 at the current exchange rate.

The cost of the visa is the same – 40 US dollars excluding the service fee of about 1,500 rubles.

Every tourist must have at least $100,000 worth of health insurance covering the risks associated with COVID-19.

Travelers who are planning to spend 90 to 270 days in Thailand are required to have a tourist visa (STV).

Regardless of the type of visa, all tourists will have to be quarantined for two weeks upon arrival in Thailand: book a “quarantine” hotel participating, for example, in the Alternative State Quarantine program (111 hotels in Bangkok and 18 in Phuket with a category of 3-5 stars).

When entering Thailand, you will have to provide a certificate of absence of COVID-19, received at least 3 days before the trip.
