When will Abkhazia open to tourists?

Abkhazia May open the season from July 15 – the headquarters for the protection of the population from the coronavirus instructed ministries and departments of the country to study this issue.

This was announced on June 29 at a meeting of the headquarters of Prime Minister Alexander Ankvab.

According to the Prime Minister, the authorities understand that it is difficult for citizens, the past time has caused damage to the economy, financial and monetary circulation, commodity flow, and tourism, one of the essential components of the economy, needs to be restored.

The headquarters instructs the relevant ministries and departments to work out the possibility of opening the tourist season from July 15 <...> to make a final decision on this matter, depending on the epidemiological situation, which will be, in particular, in the Sochi region and other regions of the Russian Federation, because a tourist visiting us is 100% from Russia.

According to him, in theory, the authorities are ready “to open the border today,” “if all is well, if this decision does not harm the country, does not harm our citizens.”

According to the Abkhaz side, all actions to receive Russian tourists will be coordinated with Rospotrebnadzor, and the proposal was sent to the President of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhaniya. If he supports it, then the corresponding document will be signed.
