The Ministry of transport explains the new rules for the return of tickets

The Ministry of transport has published new rules for the return of tickets for Russians. Explanations are posted on the department's website.

The Russian Air Code supplements Article 107.2, which establishes a special procedure for returning tickets: in case of occurrence or threat of occurrence of certain emergency situations, and the introduction of a high-alert regime, the airline must return the passenger fare under transportation contracts regardless of the fare under which the transaction took place (return or non-refundable).

Funds for unused tickets can be returned in different ways: use them as vouchers, that is, buy a new ticket or other services of the carrier, or wait three years from the date of departure of the flight and get back the amount spent.

Before the designated three-year period, money for tickets can be returned by disabled people of the first or second group, persons accompanying disabled children of the first or second group, members of large families, veterans of the Great Patriotic War. For the listed persons, the refund period is reduced to 10 days from the date of receipt of the relevant application by the airline.

On July 7, the Russian government approved a decree according to which passengers can receive vouchers instead of money for air tickets.

In June, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that allows citizens to refuse travel or return money for tickets in case of an emergency or its threat, and when the introduction of a high-alert regime.
