St. Petersburg is set to restart tourism

In St. Petersburg A roadmap has been created to restart the tourism industry.

The basis for the return of tourist flows is the principles of safety of rest and stay of guests. The city on the Neva River is the first representative of Russia in the international movement Safe Travels.

In St. Petersburg is launching the program “Petersburg hospitality”. Chairman of the Committee for the Development of Tourism of St. Petersburg Sergey Korneev: its goal: We received a challenge that no one expected. The tourism industry can become a driver of the economy and public life, and just give people a good mood <...> The restart of tourism will begin with the issues of ensuring the safety of tourists.

The city authorities, with the participation of the tourism industry and representatives of all industries involved in the hospitality industry, together with Rospotrebnadzor, developed safety standards.

The first regulates the work of tourist companies; the second concerns the activities of accommodation facilities; the third should show the work of sanatoriums in new realities.

This system of standards will ensure the safety of tourists in the hotel, sanatorium, transport and water.

Every entrepreneur in the field of tourism, who resumes his work, will have to provide a report with photos - a checklist for the convenience of travelers will be placed on a special portal, and anyone can find the safest places in the city.

Hotels, tour operators and other representatives of the tourism sector who strictly comply with the developed standards will be marked with a special sign of the international movement to ensure safe tourism and recreation - Safe Travels. A safe and comfortable holiday sign has been developed for the hospitality industry – Safe Travels SPB.

“On the St. Petersburg pilot experience, together with Rosturizm, we are working on an all-Russian system of informing about safe rest and plan to continue working on it,” Sergey Korneev explained.

In St. Petersburg, restrictions are gradually being removed.

Taking into account the new “post-pandemic” realities, the city on the Neva River thought about expanding the geography of tourist facilities at the expense of new urban spaces: Kronstadt, Krestovsky Island, New Holland, Sevkabel Port.

The Committee is preparing to open information pavilions for tourists in a new format. The pavilion on Palace Square has been updated: QR codes have appeared in it, with their help you can access various online resources of the Committee for Tourism Development.
