How did Russian tourists not notice the pandemic on foot in Israel?

An incredible story presented by the Russian representative office of the Ministry of Tourism IsraelThe Russians managed to “notice” the pandemic on an Israeli trip, and got stuck in the country.

The couple Sergey and Svetlana went abroad for the first time. The trip was inspired by an article about the picturesque route - the Shvil Israel trail. They arrived in Israel on February 8, landing at Ramon Airport, near Eilat, and went to conquer the main hiking tourist route “Shwil Israel”, its length is more than 1000 km.

Tourists could not imagine that the world was engulfed by a pandemic. Once going out for food in the city, Sergei came across a cordon of policemen in masks. The police did not expect to meet tourists, and the young man had to prove that in recent months he had spent in an information vacuum, did not know about the coronavirus and walked about 650 km.

As a result, the Russians faced quarantine measures: regular flights were canceled. The last 3 months of the trip Sergey and Svetlana spent waiting for the flight home, and lived in a tent on the beach of Tel Baruch, the Mediterranean coast.

Currently, travelers are waiting for a flight home, and visiting friends they have found on the trip.

" The amazing and touching history of Russian tourists proves that even a pandemic has failed to stop tourism and disrupt ties between our countries. We hope for a safe return of tourists home soon. I am sure that they will want to introduce their friends to Israel, which gave them so many unforgettable impressions, said V. Shklyar, director of the Department of the Ministry of Tourism of Israel in Russia and the CIS, adviser to the Embassy of Israel in Russia.
